The Chariot

Year
2025
Medium
acrylic on canvas
Dimensions
72 × 120 cm

The Chariot is the vehicle of power and conquest, in which the self explores its potential on its journey through life. Here, this arcanum is represented by the artist as a female figure carrying a shell, faithfully translating the power of transport and movement of the psyche present in this archetype. Half of her body is black and the other half is white, for reason and emotion alternate in the search for the necessary balance we are called upon to find in order to locate our individual place within a broader social context.

This arcanum arises for the artist during her own process of building a life and a home simultaneously between Brazil and Switzerland — a movement that demands personal courage and strength to sustain the crossing between two realities and the constant revelation of herself. As Carl Jung reflected: “Our personality develops, over the course of our life, from seeds that are difficult or impossible to discern, and only our actions reveal who we are” (C. G. Jung, The Development of Personality, C. W., vol. 17, p. 290).
