This arcanum came to the artist before an operation, a moment of confronting fear and questioning motherhood. On the canvas, this experience takes shape in a luminous yellow figure balancing on a single foot, about to take her next step over the waters of the unconscious. Above, held aloft in her hand, a string of shimmering pearls represents what she already knows of herself: a necklace of certainties recovered so as not to lose herself.
The green serpent on her arm, far from being a threat, has half-open eyes and mouth: a conscious flirtation with not knowing, the wisdom that embraces the abyss. Veiled by the sands of time, the work evokes the realm of the High Priestess: the silence of incubation and respect for cycles that cannot be forced.
The Distracted High Priestess invites us to remain on the tightrope of mystery: how can we continue bringing ourselves and life into being, even when the future loses its contours?
