Temperance

A body in circular motion balances on one leg, revealing consciousness in its effort to find equilibrium. The arms point upwards and downwards in alternating gestures, as though seeking to bring together what lives within and without, the spiritual and the earthly, instinct and consciousness.

Half light, half dark, the figure turns towards what is shadowy and unknown. Before the unconscious, she allows herself to be traversed by its interference, in an attitude of surrender to what emerges from its depths. There is no attempt here to separate light from dark, but to allow these forces to meet.

Red and blue energies participate in this dance and move through the body. Temperance mixes, brings together and transforms. Her balance lies not in the absence of conflict, but in the capacity to remain in relationship with what constitutes her.

It is in this movement of fusion that something new can be born.
