In O Pendu, the figure appears suspended upside down, in shades of purple, against a vibrant green background. Her body is connected to a yellow structure that reaches down to the ground and anchors itself in a dark circle, where her hand finds support. At first glance, this structure seems to serve only to hold her up. A closer look, however, reveals the shape of a key, whose teeth have been drawn at the top.
The inversion of the body alters its relationship with space and shifts the usual point of view. Something similar happens with the image itself: what seems obvious at first glance holds a feature that only reveals itself when the gaze slows down and changes position. The key remains before our eyes, but its form keeps this secret until it becomes possible to perceive it in another way.
This suspension interrupts the habitual rhythm of the mind and makes room for what remained hidden to present itself. O Pendu invites consciousness to remain before what cannot yet be understood and to discover that what seemed known may need to be seen again.
What can be seen when we are no longer looking from the same place?
